USING A TNR FACE FOR YOUR OWN CHARACTER
Every so often, you may come across a certain NPC in TNR with a face you want to use for your own character. Good news: Wrye Bash makes this easy to do. In fact, Wrye Bash has long supported this special feature within its design in regards to other mods. Here's how you do it.
Step 1) First off, if you're already well into the game and your character's race is the same as the TNR character whose face you will be taking, then a new game is not necessary. Starting a new game is only necessary if for instance you're wanting to use a Dark Elf face and your existing character is a Breton. Why is that? Because when you copy the face, you're not going to wind up with a dark skinned Dunmer face on your character. Instead, what you'll have is a light skinned Breton with the Dark Elf face you chose. Kind of odd. So, the best thing to do in that case is to start a new game and pick a race that is the same as the TNR face you're wanting to play as. Actually, you can put any TNR face on any race, but I'm just saying... Anyhow, if you're going the "new game" route, then once the game starts and performs an autosave in the dungeon tutorial, quit the game. That's the autosave you're going to use later.
Right. So let's say that the race you chose to play as is a Breton, and the NPC whose face you fell in love with is an odd but loveable character named Hastrel Ottus. The next step is easy.
Step 2) Go to the Saves tab.
Step 3) Right click on the savefile you want to edit (e.g. "autosave.ess")
and select "Import: Face".
Step 4) Make your way to your Oblivion data files directory, and select
a TNR mod. If you're using TNR ALL RACES FINAL as your base TNR
mod, then pick that one. If you're using individual TNR races instead,
pick TNR The Bretons instead.
Step 5) Select an NPC in the list to import (in this case, Hastrel Ottus)
and click "Import".
Bam. You're done. Now, when you launch the game and load your
autosaved game, your character will be adorned with Hastrel Ottus'
strange but appealing piratelike look. He may not be extremely
handsome or debonair, but he's got charm galore.
Now, I wish I could provide you with fifteen hundred screens as well as
FormIDs to help make it easier for you to decide which face to play as,
but that might be just a bit too much. Nonetheless, like it states on the welcoming page, if you feel like you've got a great TNR based character and you'd like to show him or her off, E-Mail me and send the pic along with your name or nick, what additional mods you used, etc., and I'll create a special section on the site showcasing it.
Don't worry Hastrel, she may be far away, but she's still waiting for you to return home...
